Bio
Catalina Posada (Bogotá, Colombia, 1986) is a visual artist whose work explores profound and intangible concepts such as human dwelling, memory and psyche. Using symbolic elements and vibrant color, her oil paintings seek to translate these abstract ideas into visual narratives that invite connection and reflection. Painting has been a lifelong devotion, shaped by family heritage and over fifteen years of mentorship with Maria Claudia López Granados, a celebrated Colombian artist with an international exhibition history. Between 2016 and 2018, Catalina developed her first series, Magnolias: Communion with Femininity, exhibited at the Institute of Hispanic Culture in Houston, USA. She is currently focused on Energía Vital: Inner Force Driving Life, a series that investigates essential energy that sustain existence. Catalina is Colombian and French. She spends time between Bogotá and Provence, drawing inspiration from their contrasting light and atmospheres. Selected Exhibitions Magnolias: Communion with Femininity - Institute of Hispanic Culture, Houston (2018) Artist Statement My work seeks to make visible the invisible forces that shape human experience: memory, emotion, and the vital energy that drives life. Through oil painting, I use color and symbolic elements to explore how these inner realities manifest in the elements around us. The series Magnolias reflected on femininity and communion, while my current body of work, Energía Vital, investigates the essential energy that sustains existence, a force that is both fragile and powerful. Each painting is an attempt to translate this intangible vitality into a visual language, inviting viewers to pause and reconnect with their own inner strength. |
